How to Prepare for Your 1st Physical Therapy (PT) Appointment
|
 |
Attending your first physical therapy visit? Here are a few tips to help you prepare:
- Bring insurance information
- Bring the referral (if one is needed)
- Come to the appointment early. Expect to fill out paperwork on your medicial history, current medicial status, prescriptions, emergency contacts, etc.
- Dress comfortably. Wear tennis shoes and clothes that allow for active movement.
|
During your first visit, the physical therapist will formulate a plan of care. And he may send you home with instructions for a home exercise program. Its important to understand all directions and exercises the therapist assigns to you. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to address them with the physical therapist. A therapist can assign you to a program, but only if you understand and complete the program will you see its benefits.
Many people tend to feel sore after a physical therapy session. Be sure to discuss how to alleviate sore muscles with your doctor.
Your physical therapist will evaluate your progress over time and may restructure your program so be sure to discuss any concerns or problems with him.

Spread the word |

As you know, selecting a physical therapist can be a very difficult process. Sharing your experience, whether good or bad, can help others in your community make an informed decision. In addition, providers will gain insight into their strengths and weakness, allowing them to make improvements to their services.
|
Visitors, patients and caregivers are encouraged to rate their providers by taking
a short review. The reviews generally take 2-3 minutes
to complete. Be sure to include any comments you have about the facility. In addition,
WhereToFindCare.com offers the CareStars™ program. The CareStars™ program is a way
to honor employees that have provided us with exceptional care. Please sure to nominate
a CareStar when completing a review.
