What is home care? Why would I need a homecare agency?
Home care is health care services performed in the patient’s home. Services can include skilled care such as nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy.
A physician may order homecare for a homebound patient who is not able to leave the house but needs intermittent health care services. The home health care team follows a physician’s orders and works with your physician throughout your treatment.
Homecare agencies typically treat patients for a variety of conditions including cardiac conditions, diabetes, cancer, COPD and more. Homecare is also commonly used for post-surgical recovery from procedures like hip and knee replacement. New mothers may also benefit from homecare services.
