1. Keep your teeth clean, both with regular brushing, flossing, and dental cleaning appointments. Food and plaque can collect around the brackets on your teeth, causing decay.

2. Prevent damage to your braces by not eating things that will weaken the bond between your teeth and the brackets. Avoid eating foods that are hard, crunchy, or sticky. Foods that are typically banned are: popcorn, gum, carrots, taffy, and nuts.

3. Remember to come to your scheduled appointments. They are very important for adjusting the braces and making sure the treatment is going according to plan. The time frame between appointments is usually 8 weeks. Some orthodontist can send you a text reminder of your appointment
