Dont drink the Dry Milk
The latest in a string of FDA recalls concerns salmonella in dry milk manufactured by CPI Foods, Inc of Dallas, TX. In particular, homebound food kits in several states are the recipients of these contaminated foods.According the FDA news release "Non Fat Dry Milk packets are components of CPI Foods shelf stable meal kits distributed to various community service companies in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, West Virginia, North Carolina, Nevada, and Kentucky. These community service companies deliver CPI Foods shelf stable meal kits to consumers in their homes. The meal kits are packaged in small white boxes that have no identifying information and contain single-serve food items. Distribution of affected kits began in May 1, 2009."
To date there have been no reported illnesses. Anyone with these specific kits is strongly encouraged to toss the dry milk packet in the garbage.
If you become sick from salmonella poisoning please seek medical advice. If you don't have a primary care physician, please use our urgent care finder or hospital finder for a facility near you.
